Relaunching

I will be relaunching Alexandria Skye this fall. I have neglected this site for far too long. I have worked with some different companies during my hiatus and I learned quite a bit. I want to share more and invite you into my life. I will be posting regularly on here and for real this time. I will be working on a posting schedule so you know when to expect new videos. I am super excited and can not wait to share with you all. I have taken inspiration from some of my favorite bloggers. Cool adventures coming soon.

I Bet - Ciara

Ciara finally released the video for her single "I Bet." She teased everyone releasing the audio, the acoustic audio and then the acoustic video. I like the simplicity of the video. Ballerinas look graceful but are strong and powerful. Ciara was showing how strong she is after her last situation. I am glad she is back after giving birth to Baby Future. If this song is any indication of her album Jackie then it is going to be great. I feel like Evolution Ciara is making a return and going to some really big things.

Watch the video and share your thoughts in the comments.

I Don't Know How She Does It

I just finished watching "I Don't Know How She Does It" and I love it. I have been looking for a good movie to watch for the past couple of weeks and this was the perfect movie.

Part of the reason that I love it is because of the gorgeous and talented Sarah Jessica Parker. Another one of the things that I love about the movie is that this woman is successful and her husband does not feel threatened. She does have to learn balance, but so does everyone else. In the end, she figures out a system that works best for her.

You could even consider this a holiday movie. After all the movie does involve Thanksgiving and the first snow. If you need something to curl up and watch while sipping hot tea, this movie is perfect.

If you have seen the movie let me know what you think. If you have not seen the movie tell me some of your favorite movies in the comments.

Fall Playlist

In honor of Music Monday, I thought I should share my favorite songs this fall. I love sharing my favorite songs and have not posted a playlist in a while. Fall is filled with sweaters, hot drinks and preparing for finals.  This playlist is composed of some of my favorite songs for the past couple of months. It is a mix of old and new music.

  1. All of Me - John Legend
  2. Flawless Remix - Beyonce ft. Nicki Minaj
  3. Two Sides - Danity Kane
  4. Drunk Texting - Chris Brown ft. Jhene Aiko
  5. Dum Dee Dum - Keys N Krates
  6. Jealous - Nick Jonas
  7. Look What You've Done - Angel Haze
  8. W.A.Y.S. - Jhene Aiko
  9. Freaks and Geeks - Childish Gambino
  10. How Will I Know (Cover) - Sam Smith
  11. Hot Girls - Mally Mall ft. IamSu, French Montana, Chinx
  12. Animals - Maroon 5
  13. All About That Bass - Meghan Trainor
  14. Love on Top - Beyonce

This playlist worked out in an interesting way. All of the songs work together to tell a story (side note: I did not plan it when I picked my songs.) It starts out with a woman that is super confident that meets a guy that thinks he is hot stuff. He pursues her and both of them fall in love or so they think. That love turns into jealousy and wondering if the relationship should even continue.

Check out the playlist and let me know what songs you can not stop playing this fall in the comments below.

Battle Cry x Angel Haze

Four years ago, I first heard Angel Haze and I have loved her work ever since. Battle Cry from her debut album Dirty Gold is my song of the day. It is safe to say that she is my favorite female rapper and in my top ten favorite rappers. The song speaks for her lyrical abilities. Check out the song below and let me know what you think in the comments.

Netflix vs Hulu Plus

This is going to be a super short post. I just want to know which video streaming service you all prefer. I am using the Netflix trial right now and I used the Hulu Plus trial before. When I used the Hulu Plus trial, I only wanted to watch Grey's Anatomy and did not see what all it had to offer. I would love some honest opinions about both services.

Happy Birthday Frank Ocean

Today is Frank Ocean's (born Christopher Edwin Breaux) 27th birthday. I wish he would have dropped his album today. After all, the world has only been waiting forever and a day.
There is a picture floating around the web of his album trackless. I am praying that it is the real deal but it could very easily be a lie. I guess we will just have to sit back and wait.

Hair Love

I am a huge fan of Tracee Ellis Ross. She is extremely talented and well known for her role as Joan Clayton on the hit series Girlfriends. She is now on the ABC series Blackish, as Rainbow, a doctor that was raised by hippie parents. I love that Tracee constantly portrays strong women. She portrays strong women because she is a strong woman. She is a strong woman that likes to have fun and laugh. Tracee has a YouTube channel where she makes a variety of videos. Some of her YouTube videos are hilarious, especially her series where she interprets rap lyrics.
Other videos are a little more serious and discuss personal development topics. One of my favorites is her video about hair love. She discusses how it was a journey for her to long her natural hair. Natural hair is a huge movement. Women are cutting off their hair and letting it grow without putting chemicals in their hair to modify the texture. A lot of people start the journey thinking that they are going to have hair like various celebrities and they do not. The decision to go natural should not be to have hair like Tracee Ellis Ross or SZA or Erykah Badu. It should be about growing strong, healthy hair. At the end of her video, Tracee challenges everyone to say five things that they love about their hair.
I am going to share with you all five things that I love about my hair. 1 I love that my hair is thick. Since I was little, I have had extremely thick hair. While it takes forever to straighten, I love it. I would not trade my thick hair for thin hair. 2 I love that my hair is strong. My hair is strong just like I am. 3 I love that my hair holds styles and curls. I know that I can do something to my hair in the morning and it will last all day. 4 I love the color of my hair. This probably should have been my number one. I have never put any color in my hair and it is a gorgeous shade of brown. The front half of my hair is lighter than the back. I lighten my hair by going in the sun. That seems almost too easy and it is a lot less damaging than hair dye. 5 I love how obedient my hair is. I did not always think this but I have learned which ways work best with my hair. Certain styles work better when my hair is still went and others work when my hair is dry. This is something that has taken time but my hair and I have an understanding.
I have posted the video below. Watch it and let me know what you think. In the comments let me know five things you love about your hair.

Techie Tuesday: Adobe x Microsoft

Imagine a world without a little competition. I can tell you now, it would be extremely boring. Thank goodness we do not have that problem. Microsoft and Adobe have decided to up the ante and create a game changer. Adobe recently released a video showing off some features that it would be bringing to Microsoft. Some of the features shown were click and drag editing (no more trying to outline the small hairs on a person), rotating an image without ruining proportions, and multiple device editing. Microsoft is definitely trying to get some attention with this partnership.
I definitely want to try this out. The ability to shade on the tablet looks really good. Watch out Apple, Microsoft is coming full force in the creative department. It is one thing to look at the video and another to actually use the software. Watch the video and let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Heidi and Spencer

Who could forget Heidi and Spencer Pratt from MTV's The Hills? Spencer is best known as the villain of the show and the reason Heidi and Lauren are no longer friends. The couple is back and doing more reality shows, it is not like they have actually stopped. They were on Wife Swipe over the summer.
Heidi swapped with Olympian Amanda Beard. Heidi enjoys living a vacation lifestyle and Amanda enjoys her family oriented lifestyle. Heidi was having a hard time with Amanda's lifestyle but Heidi grew up in the mountains. Heidi has really let the fame get to her head. I remember when she went home on the last season of The Hills and going to a very rustic place.
The show also exposed Heidi's desire to have children and Spencer's desire to live young and carefree for as long as he possibly can. Most relationships where one person really wants kids and the other does not, do not work out. Hopefully he is just saying that for television. If not, I hope Heidi leaves him so she can have children before she gets too old to have them. Heidi does not seem to be as strong as she was when The Hills first started. Spencer writes the rules in their relationship and she follows. We will just have to wait and see what happens with the twosome.

"Am I Wrong" - Nico & Vinz

This song plays at least 8 times a day at work and every time it plays, I get the urge to sing. The first time I heard the song, I thought it was Akon. It took me about a month to find out it was not Akon. Earlier today, I came across Nico & Vinz's documentary music video and really fell in love. The music video almost seems like a thank you for all of the love and support. I can not wait for the release of their album, Black Star Elephant, which comes out later this month. Watch the video and let me know what you think.

IMX - Beautiful You Are

I was working on my throwback Thursday post for next week and I came across this video.

Ten seconds in and I was cracking up.This is a video to IMX's song "Beautiful You Are". Things have really changed on YouTube and social media. I remember when MySpace was huge and all the guys would make little videos like this. While the guys made silly webcam videos, girls would make the picture collage videos to songs like "Differences" by Ginuwine. If you remember those videos, comment below and tell me about them.

Floyd Mayweather Versus 50 Cent

At the peak of the ALS Ice Challenge, 50 Cent challenged Floyd Mayweather. However, 50 Cent did not challenge Mayweather to dump a bucket of ice water on himself, instead he challenged Mayweather to read a page in Harry Potter. 50 Cent then went on to modify the challenge and said Mayweather only needed to read a page from The Cat in the Hat. I highly doubt that Mayweather will accept this challenge. There is a video with Floyd Mayweather attempting to read a drop for Power 105.1. It takes Charlamagne Tha God ten seconds to read the same drop that Mayweather struggles to read for about two minutes.
Illiteracy is not okay on any level. While higher education is not for everyone, elementary, middle and high school are. What makes Mayweather's situation worse than most is that he could be getting screwed out of millions. There could be all kinds of clauses in his paperwork that lead to his fall. He obviously hires people to take care of his business. Those same people could be taking money from him and he would never know. Maybe he will use this as motivation to get a tutor and learn to read.

See the video of Floyd Mayweather attempting to read a drop for Power 105.1 below.

Summer Playlist Coming Soon

I am currently working on my summer playlist for you all. It is a list of songs that I have been jamming out to all summer long. It is the perfect mix of old school and new school. There are songs on the playlist that just came out and others that have been out for at least a decade. Some of the songs are fast while others are nice mellow. I am very excited to share it with you all and it will be up in the next week.

Latch x Disclosure ft. Sam Smith

It is not everyday that I find a song that I can listen to over and over and over again without wanting a break.Usually it is an album with the songs on shuffle or I love a song but not enough to play it twenty times a day. With "Latch" I can play it six times back to back and still want to hear it all over again. I enjoyed the video for the song as well. It  The funny thing about this song is that I had no idea what the title of the song was and I could never remember it after work. Since I could not remember the song, there was no way for me to look it up. Then I was talking to one of my sorority sisters and she told me to listen to the song. I was so excited and wanted to scream. Her tell ing me the name of the song was one of the worst things she could do because I can not stop listening to the song. It will most definitely be on my summer playlist.

Song of the Day: Standing on the Sun (SOS Reggae Mix)

Hello Clouds,
Let me first start off by saying HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of the dads and dads-to-be. This is your day and enjoy it.
Today's song of the day is an older song by Beyonce called, "Standing on the Sun." This version is the reggae remix. It sounds like a fun and summery song. I can't get enough of the song.
